What is the difference between a utility knife and a safety cutter?

Utility knives are designed for general cutting tasks and may use retractable or fixed blades. Safety cutters incorporate features intended to help reduce accidental blade exposure and are commonly used for packaging, warehousing and repetitive cutting tasks.

Where are work knives and safety cutters commonly used?

Work knives and cutters are commonly used in warehouses, logistics, construction, maintenance, manufacturing, retail stockrooms and trade environments for tasks such as opening cartons, cutting packaging, trimming materials and general workplace cutting.

How do I choose the right work knife or safety cutter?

The right cutter depends on the material being cut, frequency of use and workplace safety requirements. Consider blade type, retractable or fixed construction, grip design and whether a safety-style cutter is required by the site or task.
