Frequently asked questions about electrical hazard safety boots

What does an electrical hazard (EH) rating mean?

An EH rating under ASTM F2413 means the boot's sole and heel are tested to give secondary protection against accidental contact with live electrical circuits in dry conditions. It is not a replacement for primary electrical protection.

Are EH boots the same as anti-static boots?

No. EH boots resist the flow of electricity through the sole, while anti-static boots let a small static charge drain away safely. Check which one your site requires.

Do EH boots come in composite toe?

Yes. Many EH boots in this range have composite toe caps, which keeps them lighter and airport friendly. Steel toe options are also available.

Do EH boots still protect when wet?

EH protection is tested in dry conditions. Wet conditions, worn soles or embedded metal can reduce protection, so keep boots dry and in good condition.
